Dan Nelson, President

Dan Nelson graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida in 1994. After receiving his degree, he went to work at Peek Traffic Sarasota as a design engineer for their traffic counter and classifier line. Dan worked on the development team of the Peek ADR traffic counter/classifier writing source code.

After the initial development of the ADR, Dan became the Western Regional Sales Manager for Peek Sarasota in which he was responsible for all Peek sales for the western half of the United States. In 1999, he was the top sales manager and awarded the Peek Performer award.

In May 2001, Dan left Peek and to work for ACM Highway Products as their Sales Manager. While working for ACM, Dan continued to broaden his knowledge of the traffic industry to include traffic signal controllers and traffic signal testing equipment.

Dan started Steel Gator, Inc in November 2005. Steel Gator, Inc. provides fast and reliable testing of traffic signal equipment. We use only state-of-the-art testing equipment calibrated annually to manufacturer’s specifications. We test and document the testing of conflict monitors, BIU’s, loop detectors, load switches, flasher units, and flash transfer relays.
